Welcome to Rapleaf. As the first of many posts of the Rapleaf blog, i thought i’d take this opportunity to tell you how Rapleaf was formed.
last fall we were sitting around with some friends doing a brainstorm about how to make the world a better place. and the conclusion was that the world would be a better place if it was more ethical.
simple enough.
so we started thinking … could we design a system to encourage people to be more ethical? could we make it more profitable to be ethical?
now, about 7 months later … we’re launching Rapleaf to see if we can play a small part in making the world a better place.
As we progress, Manish and I welcome your feedback and suggestions. please do not hesitate to email us.

I just read the TechCrunch post and I have to say that it’s great to see someone thinking about the consumer and not the coporation. The feedback system you guys are developing sounds like a great leap forword to ethical marketing. Giving the power to the users to report to other users about who does shady business and who is a solid dealer is great. My only concern is the security of the spamming techniques people will use against competitors. I am not in the beta group so I can’t say how great or flawed the security is but if the report from Michael Arrington is correct I agree that dealing on internet will be a safer and better place with open ethical feedback systems like yours. Great Idea Guys.

I just read about RapLeaf in Silicon Beat and TechCrunch. It is a great idea and has huge ramifications for online buying and selling. Succeeding at developing a feedback forum for all of internet will be a great benefit for the masses. If the initial experiences of the people are positive and RapLeaf builds an initial positive buzz, it should not take long to achieve critical mass and become the industry standard. The success of eBay speaks volumes about the potential of RapLeaf. A big challenge initially would to build a community like eBay did.
